Ywain McMahan Phillips

October 11, 1933 ~ April 25, 2022 (age 88)


Ywain McMahan Phillips, age 88, of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away in the comfort of her home, on Monday, April 25, 2022.

Born in Manchester, Tennessee, on October 11, 1933, to the late Basil and Lizzie McMahan, Ywain devoted her life to being a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a 1955 Graduate of The University of Tennessee- Knoxville, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. After marriage, her and her family moved accordingly, including Germany, Washington D.C., Birmingham, Atlanta and Memphis. Ywain was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, The National Button Society and Fredonia Church of Christ. She was a former Cub Scouts of America Leader and enjoyed attending weekly horse shows, in her younger years, to support her daughter’s passion of Horse Showing. Ywain enjoyed collecting buttons, traveling, gardening and having “Pool Days” with her grandchildren. Ywain will be missed dearly by her loving family and friends.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-seven years, Bobby Phillips; one daughter, Dianne McCullar-McGrory; and one sister, Joanne Martin.

Survivors include one son, who devoted the last two years as her caregiver, David Phillips; two daughters, Donna (Jeff) Tillley and Debra (Brent) Banks; nine grandchildren, Christopher Phillips, Courtney (Dominic) Janosek, Ben (Bre) McCullar, Kyle (Sara) McCullar, Ryan (Jenn) McCullar, Cody Tilley, Clay Davis, Bridgette Banks and Austin (Amber Thompson) Banks; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Coffee County Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 12PM, with Pastor Cody Tilley officiating.

The family will receive visitors, at the funeral home, from 11AM until time of services.

Interment to immediately follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Manchester, Tennessee.
