Vergil Trail Obituary

Vergil “Buck” Trail, age 85, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Unity Medical Center in Manchester, Tennessee.

Born in Coffee County, Tennessee, on July 18, 1936, to the late Herman and Golden Pearl Trail, “Buck” devoted his life to being a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. “Buck” also devoted most of his life to working hard every day, with farming and being one of the best “Dozer Men” of the Coffee County area. He was a member of the “Beechgrove and Lakewood Breakfast Clubs” where he enjoyed socializing daily with his friends. An old school, goodhearted and private man of few words, he did not like to travel and rarely ever made it out of the city limits; but he did enjoy gardening and sharing his harvest with the community, growing beautiful flowers, a good chew of tobacco and fishing time to time. “Buck” will be missed dearly by his loving friends and family.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of twenty-five years, Marilyn “Joyce” Trail; one grandson, Justin Todd; three brothers, Herschel Trail, Russell Trail and Kenneth Trail; four sisters, Edna Davis, Ruth Sain, Hazel Davis and Alta Crosslin; and faithful dog, Barney.

Survivors include three daughters, Teresa (George) Gannon, Loretta (Donnie) Bennett and Tammy Trail; two brothers, Howard Trail and Fred Trail; one sister, MaryLee Messick; five grandchildren, Lacey Taylor, George M. Gannon, Dusty (Amanda) Todd, Tiera Trail and Tiana Norman; three great grandchildren, Blake Todd, Emery Norman and one on the way; and special beloved friend and caregiver, Betty Reed.

Visitation will be held at Coffee County Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 4-8PM.

Funeral Services will be held, at the funeral home, on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 2PM, with Bro. Danny Anderson officiating.

Interment to immediately follow at Gnat Hill Cemetery in Manchester, Tennessee.
