Funeral services for Mr. Roy Ernest Hendrix, age 86 of Manchester, will be conducted on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 2 PM in the Coffee County Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Randy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held from 12 Noon until 2 PM, time of service, on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Hendrix passed away unexpectedly, on Sunday, December 26 at Unity Medical Center in Manchester.
Mr. Hendrix was born on September 13, 1935, to the late Luther Ernest and Beula Shumake Hendrix in Carolton, GA. He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree at Georgia Tech University, and he also received a Master of Engineering degree from the University of TN Knoxville. Mr. Hendrix was the supervisor of the engineering department at AEDC, and a member of Manchester First United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hendrix is preceded in death by his son, Darrell Glenn Hendrix; brother, L.E. Hendrix; and sisters, Opal Lee Gray, Pauline Musick, and Mildred Turner. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Waynne Hendrix; son Nelson Keith Hendrix, and his wife, Angie; grandchildren, Justin D. Hendrix, Matthew S. Hendrix, Jared C. Hendrix, and Allison T. Hendrix; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members, and a host of friends.
