Marvin was born in Coolspring Township to David and Florence (Nowatzke) Novak. He assisted on the family dairy farm until graduating from Elston high school and entering the U.S. Army. After receiving an honorable discharge he returned to Michigan City where he learned HVAC and worked in that trade for many years. He also worked for Michigan City Area Schools before becoming a union Pipefitter, from where he retired in 2008. After retiring he enjoyed farming, gardening, antiquing, and spending time with family.
On Dec. 5, 1970 he married Connie Bickel in South Bend, Indiana. They then built the home they lived in until 2021, when they downsized and moved to Manchester, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, two children, David (Joann) Novak of Martinsville IN, and Debbie (Rob) Hundt of Michigan City IN. He adored his 3 grandchildren Jacob Hundt of Michigan City IN, Emily (Christopher) Welter of Manchester TN, and Maggie Hundt of Michigan City IN. He passed down his love for farming and livestock by helping with many 4-H and FFA projects over the years.
He is also survived by a sister, Beverly Gloyeske, and a brother Wayne (Kathy) Novak. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister in law Melvin (Donna) Novak, as well as a brother-in-law Russell Gloyeske. He is also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, and Greats. As well as numerous in-laws, cousins, and friends.
He will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in this name may be given to Service League of Michigan City or donors choice.
