Joseph “Joe” Henry Helms, age 71, of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away, following a short term illness, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
The only child, born to the late Roberta Simpson- Helms, on August 16, 1950, “Joe” devoted his life to being a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He was a thirty-nine year, retired mechanical engineer in plant operations, for Arnold Engineering Development Complex of Tullahoma, Tennessee. “Joe” was a fifty-year member of First Baptist Church of Manchester, Tennessee, having served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Trustee. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, camping with his family, woodworking, watching westerns and was an avid reader of anything pertaining to history, mysteries or Sci-Fi. “Joe” will be missed dearly by his loving family, church family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Kathy Stout- Helms; one daughter, Lori (Steve) Purdum; two sons, Greg (Susan) Helms and Jon (Nicki) Helms; and six grandchildren, Austin West, Dillion Helms, Maddison Helms, Nathan Helms, Nicholas Helms and Ella Helms.
Visitation will be held at Coffee County Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 9-11AM.
Funeral Services will be held, at the funeral home, at 11AM, with Dr. Brenton Cox and Dr. James Nunley officiating.
Interment to immediately follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
