Mr. Cread Joseph Clifton, Sr. departed this life on July 11th, 2023 at Tennessee Valley VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro, surrounded by his loving family. Cread was born in Cleburne County, Alabama on February 7th, 1923, to the late Aubrey Clifton and Flora Clifton (Pate).
In his spare time Cread enjoyed fishing, gardening, and running his farm which included cattle, horses, sheep, hogs, goats, and chickens. What was most important to him and who he really enjoyed spending time with, was his family. Mr. Clifton was a proud United States Coast Guard veteran, in which he served during WWII. He was a member of Summitville United Methodist Church for many years, and if you knew Cread , you knew he was a man of God and always studied the scripture of the Bible.
In addition to his parents Cread is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Marian Clifton (Curry); brother, Dewayne Clifton; sisters, Christine Pope and Mildred Hamlin; and grandchildren, Cody Bentley and Chad Bentley. He is survived by his son, Cread Clifton, Jr. (Tamela); daughters, Merry Adams (Paul), Linda Cunningham, Sheila Webb (Thomas), and Minanette Warren (Gray); grandchildren, Cam Conry, Kyle Clifton, and Staver Anderson; and great grandchildren, Carter Conry, Cruz Conry, and Cade Conry.
Visitation for Mr. Clifton will be held from 5:00pm till 8:00pm on Thursday, July 13th, 2023. Funeral services for Mr. Clifton will be conducted the following day at 1:00pm on Friday, July 14th, 2023, visitors are welcome prior to the service.
