Funeral services for Elder Jesse A. Garner, age 79 will be conducted Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Elder Virgil Hibdon, JR., Elder Tim Bennett and Elder Leon Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the Garner family will be Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. A Masonic Ceremony will be conducted at 6:30 PM Tuesday evening.
Elder Garner passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Middle TN Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was born December 12, 1930 in Coffee County the son of the late Elder Jeff Garner and Sarah Rogers Garner. Elder Garner will be fondly remembered forever in our hearts as a devoted pastor having served Coffee County and several surrounding counties since 1965. He also served one term on the Coffee County School Board in the late 1970’s. He enjoyed farming and fishing as well as spending time with his family. He has served as Acting Chaplain of Masonic Lodge # 381 Ezel for several years. He retired from Batesville Casket Company August 1, 1993 and was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Harrell Garner, three brothers, J.W. Garner, Joe Garner and Ronnie Garner and two sisters, Azelina Bishop and Sarah Gibson.
Survivors include three children sons, Jesse A. Garner, Jr., Dale Garner and wife, Shannon; daughter, Marie J. Garner all of Morrison; two grandchildren, Steven and Canaan Garner and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
