Life Legacy


Funeral services for Ethel Mae Madewell, age 72 of Manchester will be conducted Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11:00 A M at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Danny Anderson and Brother Buck Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Hurricane Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held Monday evening from 5:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Madewell passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010 at her residence. She was born September 12, 1937 in Elora, TN the daughter of the late James Robert McElderry and Lela Walker Hickerson. She was a nurse for many years who enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Madewell was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord, she was a member of Hurricane Grove Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Mildred Jordan.

Survivors include her husband William Madewell; sons Bill Madewell of Lynchburg and Anthony Madewell of Manchester; daughters, Dianna Madewell, Debbie (Robert) Statham, both of Manchester; adopted children in her heart, Lewis Hendrix, Tina King, and Gail Banks all of Manchester; brothers, Ralph McElderry of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Alton (Mary Ann) McElderry of Long Island, New York, and Joe (Marie) McElderry of Murfreesboro; step grand daughter, Renee (Steve) Bates of Tullahoma; 3 step great-grandchildren; special nieces, Patty (Ronnie) Sullivan of Estill Springs, and Beverly Pelham of Southern Pines, North Carolina.
