Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Carol Patrykus, age 69, of Manchester will be conducted Monday, August 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Steve Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Patrykus passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.
She was born October 19, 1943 in Roseland, Illinois, the daughter of the late Quincy Mason Adams and Alpha Minks Harmon Adams. Joyce married the love of her life, Gus A. Patrykus in Posen, Illinois on June 23, 1962. The couple resided in Posen until relocating to Manchester to be closer to extended family ten years ago. Joyce enjoyed plants, gardening and was a wonderful cook and dedicated homemaker. She loved to watch T.V. programs such as Tennessee Crossroads but her favorite show was always the soap opera “General Hospital”. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Lois McSparren and a brother, Herman Hildebrand.
She is survived by her husband, of 51 years, Gus A. Patrykus of Manchester; three children, Teri Dunlap and husband, Tod of St. John, Indiana; Michael Patrykus of Manchester and Cindy Patrykus of Manchester; four grandchildren, Kathryn Michelle Dunlap, Logan Patrykus, Amanda Joy Dunlap and Alexis Patrykus. Also surviving are two sisters, Sandra Fay Arvaj of Chicago Heights, IL and Ester Craiger of Missouri and two special sisters-in-laws, Dollie Whittington and Carol Ann Krygowski both of Manchester and numerous other family members and friends.
